How to run a real project in the suite
A hands-on walkthrough of every module — what to enter, in what order, and how to read what comes back. Follow it top to bottom the first time; jump by module after that.
Getting started
Open PM Suite — the launcher. From there, everything is one click away. For a brand-new effort, work the modules in the order they appear in the left rail of the PM Platform; that order follows the PMBOK process groups (Initiating → Planning → Execution → Closing).
- Open the Charter and enter the project name, sponsor, and objective — this stamps the header everywhere.
- Fill the Requirements Register so scope has a source of truth.
- Build the Scope / WBS; each item carries a budget that rolls up to BAC.
- Add Assumptions, Resources, and the Budget, then lock the baseline.
- Move to Execution: Schedule, RAID, Risk, Change Control.
Definition of Ready
A project may begin execution only when the planning inputs exist. The suite treats these as the gate — see the Operating Manual for the authoritative list. In short, before you lock the baseline you should have:
PM Platform, module by module
Reading EVM & RAG
The platform computes Earned Value Management verbatim to EIA-748. You enter Planned Value, Earned Value and Actual Cost; it returns:
EAC = BAC / CPI · ETC = EAC − AC · TCPI = (BAC − EV) / (BAC − AC) · VAC = BAC − EAC
Rule of thumb: a CPI or SPI below 1.0 means over budget / behind schedule. The RAG badge (Green/Amber/Red) summarizes health for the dashboard and Exec Deck.
Schedule: CPM & Agile
Enter tasks with durations and predecessors. The Waterfall (CPM) view computes the critical path — the zero-float chain that sets your end date — and shows float on every other task. Toggle to Agile (Sprints) to plan the same work as sprints. Any task on the critical path in red will move your finish date if it slips.
Scope Creep Adjudicator
When a change request arrives, run it through the Adjudicator. It scores the request against the baseline and the requirements register and returns a recommendation — in scope, out of scope, or a change order. Approved changes flow to Change Control and adjust the baseline; the run count appears on the dashboard.
Subcontract Manager
Pick a subcontractor from the portfolio to see value, ceiling, funded and spent, plus SAM.gov clearance and CMMC level. The Flowdown Analyzer decides which of the 40 FAR/DFARS clauses flow to that sub based on its contract type and dollar value. Toggle Show flowdown only to see just the clauses that apply.
Capture & bid/no-bid
Enter the deal economics — TCV, target margin, Pwin, B&P cost, risk EMV. The header returns Expected Value (TCV × Pwin), gross profit at margin, B&P as a share of TCV, and a bid recommendation. Then click each Shipley gate (0–5) to advance its decision: Pending → Pursue → Decline → Hold.
Portfolio & reporting
Portfolio Command rolls programs and projects into one view with aggregate CPI/SPI, RAG health, prioritization scores and funding gates. For a board briefing, open the Exec Deck — it reads the same live project data and renders a 1920×1080 deck you can present or export to PDF.
Saving & resetting
Every change autosaves to localStorage under a2e_pm_platform_v1. Return in the same browser to continue. Reset Demo clears the key and restores the sample project. Clearing browser data also erases your work — see the Admin & Deployment Guide for backup and the production backend.
